Parental
Screening

What differentiates us from other breeders is the quality of our breeding selections and the confirmation of the French Bulldogs selected for breeding. Each dam (mother) and sire (father) are strategically selected for breeding because of health, size, disposition, color, and confirmation, in which no corners were cut to produce the best French Bulldog that could be developed.

For breeding selection and in order to provide quality genetic confirmation through parentage, dams (mothers) and sires (fathers) undergo numerous, non-invasive testing to guarantee longevity of your pup. This testing includes that of the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) CHIC Certification & Health Testing for the French Bulldog breed, with a four-panel minimum of screening for Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), Juvenile Hereditary Cataracts (JHC), Canine Multifocal Retinopathy Type 1 (CMR1), and Hyperuricosuria (HUU) of each parent, both dam (mother) and sire (father).

Additional optional testing includes screening for Autoimmune Thyroiditis, Elbow Dysplasia, and Tracheal Hypoplasia. Please note that the CHIC Certification & Health Testing for the French Bulldog breed can only be performed on parents over 24 months of age.

Preliminary screening for Hip & Elbow Dysplasia can be conducted as early as 4 months old for the purpose of breeding selection per OFA's policy.

In addition to the genetic testing and OFA screenings/testings, we also pay attention to color variety, the colors each individual parent carries, size & body structure, individual temperament/demeanor, and much more.

Upon selection of the dam (mother) and sire (father), we continue to our next phase:
